Never try and stop a volleyball with your face

We'll be honest, we have little experience of volleyball outside watching the beach volleyball at the Olympics (we just really like the Olympics, that's why we watch it), being forced to play it the odd time in PE at school, and a couple of themed episodes of Saved by the Bell when they went to the Malibu Sands Beach Club, but we know a brilliant clip when we see one. Some poor unfortunate college volleyball player (that's a thing in America, apparently) from Hannibal-LaGrange University took a spike full force in the face from Cairn University's Ryan Garven in what looks like a serious case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Once he gets hit he ends up falling, almost Matrix-style in slow motion, and he is most certainly feeling that one for the next few hours. Ouch. Hat-tip to Bleacher Report for this one
