As arguably the greatest rivalry in the history of Gaelic Football, Dublin v Kerry doesn’t need much building up, but RTE have set the tone nicely in any case.
The folks at RTE Sport are very good at this type of thing across all sports but they particularly excel in capturing the local aspects of GAA rivalries and although Dublin v Kerry is far from a local rivalry, it still manages to raise the pulses of GAA fans everywhere.
The theme for the promotional clip ahead of Sunday’s clash is ‘What is it about Dublin v Kerry?’ and it recalls not just great Dublin and Kerry players past and present, but famous people and cultural landmarks from both counties.
It might be a bit too dramatic for some people’s tastes but it certainly works for us and helps add another layer of excitement to a game that never needed it in the first place.
3.30pm tomorrow can’t come quickly enough.
