There’s a few serious belts thrown here…

We know with all competitive sport (and five-a-side on Monday nights) things have the potential to spill over and the odd scuffle can break out. This is pretty normal in the likes of football, hurling and field sports but it’s highly unusual for it to happen in cycling.

At the sixth stage of the Volta a Portugal yesterday things certainly spilled over as two of the cyclists ended up in a punch-up at the side of the road just after the finish line.

Vicente de Mateus from Spain who rides forLouletano-Dunas Douradas and Italian Enrico Rossi of the Christina Watches-Kuma team got in an argument over how the sprint finish had panned out.

The two lads obviously disagreed and the fists started flying…
