JOE put down the challenge… and the Tyrone ‘keeper responded in style.
Yesterday on the site, we featured a ridiculously good exhibition of free-taking by Paul Keane of Ballerin GAA Club in Derry, who nailed eight out of nine attempts from the 45 metre line and successfully converted a 55 metre effort, all in the space of under 100 seconds. It proved wildly popular on the site yesterday afternoon and on Facebook in particular, JOE readers were keen to alert colleagues of theirs who they thought would be able to do likewise.
We put a shout-out to JOE readers at the end of that piece yesterday to send us in similar efforts and specifically called out three of the best ball-strikers currently playing inter-county Gaelic Football: Bryan Sheehan of Kerry, Stephen Cluxton of Dublin and Tyrone ‘keeper Niall Morgan.
Only a few hours had elapsed before a video made its way to us (thanks to John McGuckin) of Morgan not only completing the challenge – unlike Paul, he didn’t miss a single kick – but doing so with effortless ease and in a better time (approximately 82 seconds) than his Ulster counterpart.
Niall might not have mentioned us by name in the video but we could tell that the enthusiastic ‘Yeahhhh’ shout at the end was a Maximus from Gladiator-like cry of ‘Are you not entertained?’ in our direction and if you’re reading Niall, fair play to you, that was an incredibly impressive display and perhaps too easy a challenge for a man of your talents.
One down, two to go then. Bryan and Stephen, are you up for it?
Hat-tip to John McGuckin for sending this one our way
