Video: Unfortunate fan in Clones flattened after Derry player’s point catches her square in the face

Pow, right in the kisser.

Standing behind the goals at a GAA match certainly has its benefits.

You’ll have an excellent view of events in the full-forward line and you’ll probably have a better idea than the umpires of whether or not attempts for points have gone over the bar or wide.

Unless there are nets in place behind the goal, however, there’s also a chance that you’ll be struck by the ball once it flies over the bar and one poor fan in Clones found that out to their cost when Benny Heron struck a point for Derry against Donegal on Saturday.

Anyone that’s been through the experience will tell you that being hit by an O’Neill’s at full flight is not at all pleasant and we can only hope that the fan in question was OK after taking it square in the face.

Thankfully, we’re glad to report that the fan, a seven-year old girl from Donegal, is fine having suffered a bit of shock and a bloody nose after the impact.

She might take in the next game from the stand all the same.

Hat-tip to Trés-Belle on Twitter for sending this one our way
