Video: Watch a club footballer from Cork put over two 45s in 30 seconds without any boots on

He might be letting on that he’s alright, but surely this had to hurt…

He might be letting on that he’s alright, but surely this had to hurt…

As all Gaelic Footballers will know from experience, striking a size five O’Neills on a cold day when you’ve a pair of boots on can be quite painful, so it’s a brave man that will give it a whack as hard as they can without any boots on at all. And from the ground too.

There are any amount of pitfalls, from stubbing your toe on the ground while trying to get some elevation to slipping in the act of kicking the ball to damaging the notoriously fragile metatarsal bones with the force of impact, but Joseph Creedon, from Inchigeelagh in Cork and who plays for Iveleary, makes it look easy…

Joseph, who plays in goal for the club, told us that he was dared to it in his socks and that if he didn’t put two kicks over, he would have had to give the number one jersey to his rival, Jamie Cronin. Better get used to the bench Jamie!

We’ve seen numerous examples of GAA dead-ball expertise in recent months, but this is the first example of a free-taker doing their stuff sans boots and perhaps the greatest example of a GAA score with just socks since Jason Sherlock’s famous goal against Laois all those years back.

Impressive.

Hat-tip to Joseph Creedon and Brian Cronin for sending this our way
