You didn’t think they called him The Mountain because he looks like Croagh Patrick now, did you?
Most people who know of Hafthor Bjornsson know him as Gregor Clegane or ‘The Mountain’ from Game of Thrones but when he’s not busting heads (sometimes literally) in Westeros, he can often be seen in weightlifting and strongman competitions. At approximately 6’9” and 30 stone, he fits in rather well on that circuit.
The video above is a little bit old and we’re not sure exactly when and where it was taken, but what we do know is that Bjornsson is deadlifting a fairly monumental weight of 994 pounds, the equivalent of 71 stone or just over four Paul O’Connells.
If you thought that was impressive, feast your eyes on Bjornsson’s fellow strongman Zydrunas Savickas deadlifting a whopping 1,155 pounds a little earlier this year.
