Video: Yes he Kan – Not surprisingly, Anthony Nash buries a free in the club championship

Anything he can do at inter-county level, Anthony Nash can certainly do in Kanturk colours as he scored a trademark goal at the weekend.

His club defeated Meelin in the Intermediate Hurling Championship at the weekend by four points and helped in part with this inspirational score from the All Star netminder. To be fair to Meelin, there was a certain inevitability once he stood over this free.

With 4-9 to his name in Cork colours in the 2013 championship, there is no shame in failing to keep out a piledriver from the Kanturk man, with Meelin opting to put six on the line, rather than the Clare approach of nearly the entire team.

And there must be something in the waters on Leeside as Carrigtwohill’s keeper Tom Hogan nearly upstaged Nash as the most exciting shotstopper in the Intermediate championship.

With his side down by seven in injury time Hogan rifled home a free only to be called upon again to blast in a penalty a minute later and with seconds on the watch the stopper held his nerve to point a long range 65’ to force extra-time which they lost. Hogan finished with 2-2 to his name.

Bringing glamour back to goalkeeping.
