Two of the most famous Scotsmen on the planet joined Andy Murray for an impromptu celebration of his US Open semi-final win last night. Where was Rod Stewart when they needed him?

Murray defeated Tomas Berdych in four sets to qualify for the US Open Final last night and was slightly taken aback when Sir Alex Ferguson and Sean Connery gatecrashed his press conference afterwards.

Not very familiar with the rules of tennis, Alex was reportedly seen to be gesticulating towards the umpire and pointing towards his watch when the final fourth set drew to a close, while if we were to continue to indulge in lazy stereotypes, Connery probably welcomed all the female attention coming his way at Flushing Meadows.

Not an awful lot happens in the video above – in fact it all comes across as just as a little awkward – but rarely has there been such a gathering of famous Scottish people in the one place.

All they needed was Ewan McGregor and Billy Connolly and things really would have kicked off.
