The Clare man led his LIT side to an unexpected win over UL today in the Fitzgibbon Cup, and he was really, really happy.

Davy Fitz gives the sort of pre and post-match interviews that would make him a shoo-in for the WWE if he ever decides on a change of career.

Thankfully he remains steadfastly in love with hurling so we continue to get interviews like this one, conducted by Jerome Quinn (@JeromeQuinn) after today’s Fitzgibbon Cup quarter-final.

UL were red-hot favourites to win but Davy’s LIT side, powered by 2013 Hurler of the Year Tony Kelly’s 1-10, won the match 2-16 to 1-13, booking their place in the semi-final jamboree next weekend.

In the afterglow of the surprise win, Davy was in vintage form, calling the win ‘as big as anything he has ever done’ before flashing a wicked grin at how much he loved upsetting the odds.

Waterford IT, who they face next, better watch out.
