What have Jamie Heaslip, Manu Tuilagi, Martin Castrogiovanni, Geordan Murphy, Robbie Henshaw and Simon Zebo got in common? They’re all supporting Newbridge College today, that’s what.
The Kildare College go head to head with St. Mary’s in the Leinster Senior Cup quarter-final in Ashbourne today and if the players were in need of any motivation, then it has been provided in spades by messages of support from some of the most famous rugby players in Europe in the run-up to the big game.
A special Facebook page set-up ahead of the game includes video messages from Jamie Heaslip, Geordan Murphy and Johne Murphy (all past pupils of Newbridge College), Conor Murray, Manu Tuilagi, Martin Castrogiovanni, Simon Zebo, Grenoble winger Alipate Ratini, Leicester and England Saxons duo Matt Tate and Ed Slater and picture messages of support from Connacht duo Fionn Carr (also a past pupil) and Robbie Henshaw.
With the permission of the administrator of the page, Hugh O’Donnell, we have included just one of the videos below, but you can check out all of them on the Facebook page and it’s quite an all-star cast of Newbridge fans it must be said.
If they can pull in that sort of support for a quarter-final, imagine what they’ll do if they make the semi-final and the final. All the best to both sides later on today.
