Vine: Ireland’s Grace Davitt rattled by a monstrous hit against New Zealand

Fair play to Grace, she immediately made the ball available and was up on her feet in no time. She’s made of stern stuff alright.

Fair play to Grace, she immediately made the ball available and was up on her feet in no time. She’s made of stern stuff alright.

No matter who’s wearing the jersey, the All-Blacks are always going to make for intimidating opposition in a game of rugby and Ireland’s Grace Devitt found that out the hard way during the Women’s Rugby World Cup Pool B clash in France this afternoon.

Midway through an intense and very competitive first-half, Devitt was absolutely smashed in the tackle by New Zealand’s Rawinia Everitt having had little time to react after taking a pass on the burst from out-half Nora Stapleton.

It was the type of tackle that could have sent Devitt into the middle of next week, but she kept her cool, immediately presented the ball and was back on her feet moments later; no mean feat considering the force of the impact in what was a shuddering hit.

Ouch.
