Vine: Is Jan Vertonghen the victim or the villain in this Dnipro sending off

There has been an incredible game at White Hart Lane tonight, but Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen is coming in for a bit of stick for his actions. What do you make of it?

When Roman Zozulya put Dnipro 1-0 up on the night, and 2-0 on aggregate, with an away goal, in their Europa League second leg tie with Tottenham tonight just after half time you would be forgiven for switching off the game and going to do something else.

If you did, you made a big mistake. Firstly, Christian Eriksen equalised with a fine free kick, and then goalscorer Zozulya gets sent off after clashing with Vertonghen. There is clearly contact made to the head of the Belgian but did he almost initiate it and, more importantly, does he overreact to get his opponent sent off?

Make of it what you will below but it changed the tie.

A minute after the visitors go down to 10 men Adebayor scored to mean Spurs only needed one more to progress and sure enough Adebayor scored again minutes later to put Dnipro out and Tottenham through.
