Vine: Jockey inexplicably falls off his horse, while leading, just 10 metres before the finish line at Doncaster

We'd hate to have had money on this horse...

We’d hate to have had money on this horse…

One of the most bizarre finishes to a horse race ever occurred towards the end of the Grade 2 Polypipe Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster this afternoon.

Cotai Glory was a few strides clear as he closed in on the finish line when the horse’s jockey George Baker slipped off the side in remarkable fashion. Check out the unbelievable footage here…

Speaking to The Racing Post after the race, Baker explained what happened, “He had the race won as far as I was concerned and something must have caught his vision, he was definitely hanging to where he came out on to the track.

“As he was hanging right my saddle moved slightly round and that was it, I came off. It just moved slightly but the thing is you are going that quick and I’m trying to keep him straight. It is so annoying, it is one of those things. I definitely wouldn’t make a jump jockey!”

We’ve never seen anything like it before, bizarre.
