Vine: Patrick Horgan’s rocket of a goal for Cork against Clare

After all the fuss over Anthony Nash, it was a Pat Horgan bullet that grabbed the headlines today.

After all the fuss over Anthony Nash, it was a Pat Horgan bullet that grabbed the headlines today.

In 35 minutes at Semple Stadium, Cork’s Pat Horgan has racked up a stunning 1-8. His team-mates have chipped in with five more points and the Rebels lead the Munster semi-final against Clare by three points, 1-13 to 1-10.

The highlight of Horgan’s haul was a stunning goal that he nabbed from a free in the Anthony Nash range and in the Anthony Nash style. Horgan had a tapped a few frees from similar distances over the bar so perhaps Clare expected him to do the same when he shaped up to another one just after the half-hour mark.

This time Horgan absolutely rattled the ball to the net, as pure a strike as you’ll see in the game all summer.

Update: Horgan has only gone and scored another, this time from a penalty.
