Vine: Teenage hurler from Antrim strikes the most nonchalantly brilliant crossbar challenge effort you’ll ever see

This kid might still only be a teenager, but we’re dubbing him the Dimitar Berbatov of hurling after this effort. Class.

This kid might still only be a teenager, but we’re dubbing him the Dimitar Berbatov of hurling after this effort. Class.

The man responsible for the delightful piece of skill you’re about to see is Shea Hunter of the Carey Faughs GAA Club in Antrim and although it was filmed last July (we’re reliably informed he was 15 at the time) we don’t mind bringing it to your attention almost a year on because it’s well worth a look.

The crossbar challenge has become so commonplace nowadays that you really have to up your game if your effort is going to stand out from the crowd and young Shea managed just that with a beautiful flick and a casual swipe of the sliotar goalwards, all carried out with such effortless ease that he might as well have been wearing a dressing gown and a pair of slippers.

Because Shea actually walks across the camera it’s hard to confirm that the sliotar actually strikes the crossbar but we’d like to give him the benefit of the doubt and besides, he shows so much skill, class and composure that it’s still pretty great even if it didn’t connect.

Remember the name, folks.

Hat-tip to Daza McVeigh for sending this one our way
