*Not really.
That’s the only explanation, right?
Ireland’s Stephanie Roche sadly came up short in her bid to win the Puskas award at this evening’s Ballon d’Or ceremony in Zurich, with James Rodriguez’s effort for Colombia against Uruguay coming out on top.
Although Roche’s effort commanded a third of the total vote (33%), 44% of voters opted for James’ effort, with only 11% opting for Robin van Persie’s header against Spain.
FIFA #Puskas Award: 3.3 million votes cast! @jamesdrodriguez 42%, @StephanieRoche9 33%, @Persie_Official 11% of all votes. #BallondOr

Stephanie’s campaign ultimately ended in disappointment, but it did bring her outrageous goal to the attention of a worldwide audience and she can be immensely proud of that and the way she’s carried herself as her goal commanded more and more attention in recent months.
Worth one more look? Who are we kidding, this never gets old.
