Warrant out for Digby Ioane as woes continue for Robbie Deans

While injuries were already playing havoc with Robbie Deans’ preparations for the second Lions Test, a warrant for Digby Ioane is the last thing he needed.

While injuries were already playing havoc with Robbie Deans’ preparations for the second Lions Test, a warrant for Digby Ioane is the last thing he needed.

The Wallabies have been dropping like flies, as was evident when flanker Michael Hooper was forced to play at centre last Saturday, and the warrant for the arrest for Ioane is another headache he could do without.

A magistrate issued the warrant when Ioane did not appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court today to answer a charge of unlawful assault stemming from a pub drama in the Melbourne suburb of Prahran on March 9.

Ioane was involved in an altercation the day after Queensland Reds defeated the Rebels, and was due in court today but failed to show up in what seems like a huge oversight from the Wallabies camp. New.com.au have described how they have “been caught unawares”, but either way it is another distraction within camp.

The powerful winger has only just returned to action after an injury lay-off and did not take part in today’s training session, and was watching on at the time he should have appeared in court.

In the words of Alf Stewart, strewth!
