WATCH: Fan causes havoc as he invades stage during World Darts final

What an idiot…

Everyone seems to want their five seconds of fame these days, but one thing is for certain, this is not the way to get it.

Monday night’s PDC World Darts Final between Gary Anderson and Michael Van Gerwen, was a prime example of a player at the top of his game putting on a show.

Van Gerwen has been in irrepressible form all tournament, so much so that three of the four highest losing averages in the history of the world championship, including Anderson’s on Monday, came against Van Gerwen in this tournament.

While the Dutchman only gave up nine legs during the match, make no mistake about it, he was pushed hard by veteran Scotsman Gary Anderson.

But in the end, Van Gerwen was never going to be denied, producing an average in excess of 108 to secure himself the victory and a second World Championship to go with the one he chalked down in 2014.

But, the match was marred somewhat by the invasion of the stage by a lone man when Van Gerwen had the game in his sights.

The man stormed the stage and grabbed the trophy before he was swiftly removed by security.
