WATCH: Ireland v Denmark may be scoreless but there should have been a goal for each side

We should have got a precious away goal...

JOE

Ireland

It really should be 1-1.

We’re sure that you spent most of the first half if not all of it with your hands over your eyes, your bum on the edge of the seat and your mouth releasing random noises to express your nervousness.

Following Darren Randolph’s magnificent double save from an early Denmark attack, we released a sigh of relief (if only for a couple of seconds) but really Denmark should have taken the lead on the half-hour mark.

Eriksen picked up the ball around the 25-yard mark and hit a swivelling shot at Randolph’s goal. Randolph did his best to get his gloves to the ball but the dip on it put him off and the best he could do was parry the ball as far as Sisto.

He should have scored but thankfully, he didn’t…

Then, fast forward ten minutes and the Boys in Green had a chance of their own. A lovely piece of link-up play between Murphy, Christie and Hendrick saw Christie running through on goal.

We jumped, oh how we jumped. But sadly, no luck.
