WATCH: Irish fan’s sudden change from ecstasy to agony was every one of us during the first half
How quickly things can change.

It was a reaction to a missed Daryl Murphy chance, but it could have been a reflection of the game as a whole.

Of all the predictions about how tonight’s game would unfold, pretty much nobody could say they foresaw what happened during a frankly madcap 45 minutes at the Aviva Stadium.

Plenty of Irish fans thought we had scored too early when Shane Duffy headed us in front after five minutes and they were right as Denmark equalised and then took the lead in the space of three minutes.

Cyrus Christie turned the ball into his own net under pressure in the area and then Christian Eriksen put the finishing touches to an admittedly brilliant Danish move to put the visitors in the driving seat.

Before that, Ireland created two great chances for James McClean and Daryl Murphy and this guy wasn’t the only one who was sure that the latter actually hit the back, rather than the side of the net.

It's not looking good right now, but it's not over yet...
