Absolutely disgusting scenes.

Aston Villa footaller Jack Grealish was attacked by a pitch invader less than ten minutes into today’s derby clash between Villa and Birmingham.

During a break in play, a fan ran onto the pitch and swung a punch at Grealish’s face before he was surrounded by stewards and marched off the pitch. Perhaps worst of all, he was cheered by many of the Brum fans, while he blew kisses into the crowd.

Grealish did very well to stay calm and stay away from the situation as the officials led the man off the pitch. Grealish can also be seen on camera chatting to some Birmingham players after the incident.

Soccer AM have shared a video of the dreadful incident on their official Twitter page.

Grealish has often been at the centre of controversy, particularly in Ireland. After representing the Republic of Ireland through the various stages of youth football, he eventually declared for England. Nevertheless, he’s acquitted himself very well during this incident.

As things stand, the game remains 0-0.
