WATCH: Ladies’ GAA team in Zurich create ingenious zombie-themed recruitment video

Conor Heneghan

Fair play, this is (un)deadly.

If you’ve come across our Around the World in 80 Clubs series, you’ll know how big GAA is Europe, with clubs springing up all over the continent thanks to the efforts of ex-pats and locals alike.

We’ve seen throughout the series that those involved the clubs aren’t shy when it comes to recruiting new players, but the ladies at Zurich Inneoin have gone over and above in their efforts to add to the squad.

Alan Jennings, the PRO for the European Board for Gaelic Games told us that they came up with the idea of creating a zombie-themed short film showcasing the city of Zurich itself as well as showing how traits like teamwork and togetherness can see a GAA team survive a zombie apocalypse.

And, if needs be, nothing like a blast of an O’Neills to get rid of the pesky undead.

The film is less than four minutes long and had a total budget of €90. It was so impressive that it was even shown at a local cinema in Zurich at the end of last month.

The ladies at the club deserve huge kudos for putting such an effort into recruiting new players and we hope for their sake that it proves effective.

We might even check in to see how they got on 28 Days Later.

Cheers to Alan Jennings for sending this our way. Got a story for JOE? Hit us up on Facebook or Twitter, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102 or mail [email protected].
