Bournemouth haven’t enjoyed the greatest of starts to the Premier League season, but Irish fans will have been encouraged by Harry Arter’s performances in the Cherries’ midfield.
So impressive has Arter been, in fact, that on-loan Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere recently said that Arter was one of the best midfielders he’s ever played with, some statement considering some of the midfielders that Arsenal have had in recent years.
Jeff Stelling and Paul Merson have also sat up and taken notice of Arter’s performances and gave him a deserved mention on a Sky Sports Facebook live broadcast on Friday morning.
They did, however, suggest that he is one of the players that stand-in manager Gareth Southgate should be considering for the England squad... which might be a small problem considering he’s already been named in the Ireland squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Moldova next month.
