We’re bloody excited about the Euros in Ireland, but we can imagine the excitement is at a similar or even greater level in Iceland, as it will be their first ever major tournament.
Considering that the population of the country is approximately 330,000 and they are the least populous nation ever to qualify for a major football tournament, it’s some achievement.
One of those 330,000 or so Icelanders is Hafthor Bjornsson, better known to millions of Game of Thrones fans worldwide as The Mountain, a moniker that only goes some of the way to explaining his size and strength.
With his beloved Iceland taking on Portugal in their first game at the tournament, Bjornsson had a message for Portugal’s star man Cristiano Ronaldo on BBC Sportsworld; let’s just say he’d better watch his back if he ends up hitting the net.
