However, the Boys in Green's hopes were diminished when
three second half goals gave the Belgians a much deserved victory, despite an especially
questionable refereeing decision from the controversial official, which worked against Ireland.
After the game, Eamon Dunphy was his usual forthright self, questioning the Irish players' overall concentration levels, culminating in the use of a textbook word that Dunphy has not treated viewers to in quite some time.
