Curtis Woodhouse gave us all a lesson in how to school Twitter trolls last month and new UFC star Conor McGregor was about to do something similar closer to home earlier today.
McGregor has rightly been earning plenty of plaudits ever since his stunning 67-second KO of Marcus Brimage in Stockholm on Saturday, but one guy was apparently distinctly unimpressed by the Dublin fighter’s achievements.
Earlier today, he posted a series of derogatory tweets about McGregor (since deleted), including McGregor’s Twitter handle (@thenotoriousmma) in all of the posts, and must have been horrified when McGregor gave the following response.

Not surprisingly, McGregor’s tweet met with quite a response and he was soon provided with the address of the troll, which he also retweeted from his own account, and probably had him sh*tting his pants when he rebuffed his original attempt at an apology.

The troll continued to back down and apologise profusely for the original tweets, which he claimed were only a wind-up, while he also said that he was put up to it by a friend of his, who on further investigation, is accompanied by McGregor in his Twitter profile picture.
Due to the instant climb-down by the troll after his original tweets it looks as if he won’t have McGregor banging his door down anytime soon but perhaps the best part of the story is the tweet sent by original troll-basher, Curtis Woodhouse, who got wind of what was going on not long after it all blew up.

The lesson to be learned from this episode is never to take on Conor McGregor on Twitter (or in the Octagon... or basically anywhere for that matter) and that the method of responding to trolls used by both McGregor and Woodhouse is a very effective one indeed.
