Bray was the centre of the universe yesterday because of one woman. JOE was there to soak up the atmosphere and meet all of Katie Taylor’s many fans.
With all due respect to Usain Bolt and David Rudisha, there was only one star on show in London yesterday. Bray woman Katie Taylor won Olympic gold and her home town was THE place to be.
In years to come hundreds of thousands of people will claim to have been there to watch Katie achieve her dream of Olympic gold but JOE was there to capture the mood.
We spoke to the people who watched the fight on the big screen in the town, asked them what her win meant for them and it is pretty clear from this video, it meant an awful lot. The word 'pride' feature sheavily, and rightly so.
