Video: The Chinese Basketball Association Slam Dunk competition makes for sad viewing

We're used to the huge hype and massive slam dunks of the All Star weekend in the NBA, but the Chinese Basketball Association's version is somewhat less exciting.

When you're used to watching Blake Griffin perform some absolutely insane slam dunks, there's little else that's going to be as exciting, but the Chinese Basketball Association's All Star event is not even comparable to the American equivalent.

We know that in the All Star competition they do miss the odd dunk, but it seems like a real struggle for these lads to actually slam the ball through the hoop.

The judges are also handing out huge numbers like it was going out of style, with a minimum of eight for just getting the ball in, which we would have thought is a fairly basic requirement of a slam dunk competition.

There's a bizarre effort to slam dunk a ball with one hand and a shoe in the other, and while the shoe sticks to the backboard, the ball doesn't actually go in until the third attempt when he gives up on using the shoe as a prop.

There's also a strange one involving a giant inflatable rice ball in which the judges also get served some rice balls before the dunk. That doesn't work either.

Overall there are some pretty shocking efforts in here, but we guess we're hardly ones to be criticising seeing as we can't slam dunk at all. That's why we're not basketball pros though.
