A nice piece of kit.

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge were unveiled last night at the Mobile World Congress and we’re sure that plenty of you have a keen interest on the newest smartphones that are about to hit the market. Here’s what Samsung have in store.

1) Whats’s new with the camera?

As is the norm with any new phone, there’s some brand new camera features. Samsung are introducing the first Dual Pixel camera on a smartphone which will deliver brighter and sharper images, even in low light.

The introduction of Dual Pixel technology means a brighter lens, wider aperture and even bigger pixels. For the first time, you can also capture sweeping movements in panoramas and the new motion photo option will also captures the three seconds before you happen you hit the shutter thus allowing you to choose which moment you want to preserve as the still photo.

2) The battery

Both the Galaxy S7 (3000 minutes) and S7 Edge (3600 minutes ) have longer battery life and the time that it takes to charge them is even shorter, 90 and 100 minutes respectively.

3) Ever broken a phone due to water damage?

The new models are water resistant and can be immersed in water for up to 30 minutes or placed 1.5 meters under. Why you want to do that is beyond us but this should be helpful if you happen to spill drinks on your phone!

4) The design

The 5.1-inch Galaxy S7 and 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 edge are constructed with 3D glass and metal – all in a sleek design with durability and ergonomic curves for a comfortable grip.  Edge UX, the advanced edge experience available on Galaxy S7 edge, increases efficiency by creating easy shortcuts to users’ most loved apps/features such as email, selfie mode, panorama mode or third party applications.

5) Technical details.

4GB RAM and the CPU is 30% faster than its predecessors. If you happen to need extra storage for your photos and videos then it’s possible to extend the phones memory by inserting an external microSD card.

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will go on sale in the Ireland on 11th March and customers can pre order them from tomorrow. More details here.
