Acer, who we haven’t seen make an impact in the smartphone market yet, have released a phone with a fairly interesting gimmick

With the Berlin IFA just around the corner, Acer have looked to get the jump on everyone by releasing the details of their latest range ahead of the event.

The most surprising addition has been the the Liquid S2, which has a 6-inch, 1920×1080 pixel screen, a 13-megapixel camera and a quad-core 2.2GHz processor. It’s also got 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage under the hood too.

However, the most interesting feature is that it can record (or so it claims) video in 4K, and that it’s the first smartphone with that capability. It can also record full HD video, but if 4K does prove to be the next big thing, then Acer might have jumped the queue on this one and made their phone stand out from the competition.

According to Mashable Acer haven’t announced their final release date or how much this bad boy will cost, but seeing as we haven’t come across too many Acer smartphones up to now, we reckon they may well come in with a competitive price for a phone that has a lot of the features and specs of high-end flagship models from their competitors.
