Apple’s new method of charging your phone has made us very excited

This would be so damn handy…

One of the biggest problems associated with charging your iPhone is the tendency for the cable on your charger to go to sh*t after only a few months.

Fraying near the connection leads to uncovered wires and when this happens, you know your charger is on its last legs. But you won’t let it die with dignity as you insist on holding the charger at a certain angle for as long as possible before eventually forking out for a new one.

We’ve all been there, there’s nothing to be ashamed of…

But all this could soon be a thing of the past if Apple has anything to do with it.

Apple was recently granted a patent for a system equipped to harness the wireless signals emitted by routers to charge electronic devices. The system described, uncovered by AppleInsider, would use the same frequencies to transfer data over the air to charge mobile devices.

Basically, it would mean that should the system come into fruition, new iPhones would charge over Wifi rather than with a traditional cable as is the way now.

As of this moment, the patent simply covers the idea of wirelessly charging your phone through a Wifi router, and does not have any of the specifications beyond the “implementation of specialized beam forming patch antennas.”

But just imagine how much easier this would make the task of charging your phone.
