What your choice in headphones says about you

There’s an awful lot you could tell about a person by their headphones…

For many of us, our headphones are every bit as essential as our wallet when we’re out and about. Such is the case regardless of whether you keep up with the latest trends or have been untangling the same pair for the past 12 years.

Wires are half the problem. To support the launch of the new Nokia 7.1, Three are giving away free Nokia True Wireless Buds worth €139 for everyone who buys the phone, which is also free!

Pop them in, and you’re away with the fairies. Be it on your daily commute or a long-haul flight, it’s just about the best way to tell the world that you’re in no mood for chit chat.

The times, they are a-changing. Seeing as technology like wireless headphones is changing the way we listen to music, we got to thinking about all the different types of headphone-wearers we see on the street.

Just as Forrest Gump’s momma told him about a person’s shoes, there’s an awful lot you could tell about a person by their headphones…

Over-priced designer gear

Are you doing this for the sake of listening to music or because you saw your favourite celeb wear them?

Unlike the people who use headphones to drift away from it all, you want to stand out. By “stand out” we mean buying into the hype about a designer label, but at least you look good.

Wireless earbuds

Practicality and freedom.

You have far more important things to do with your time than work your way through an endless array of wires. All you want to do is pop them in and go about your day.

The Nokia True Wireless Earbuds come with their own portable charging case, just to make sure you’re wasting as little of that time as possible.

Cheapskate

Ah here. How much use are you planning on getting out of the pair you got for free on a tour bus in Glasgow?

Buy a new pair you stingy divil. For shame.

Retro

Big bulky things that look as if they’re straight out of a time machine from the 1970s. You know the ones.

There’s no denying they look cool, but they do send out a message of “I’m listening to a band you’ve never heard of because you’re not cool enough.”

No headphones

You know what the worst kind of headphones are? No headphones.

If you are using your phone to play music in public, that says all we need to know. Stop it.

The Nokia True Wireless Earbuds provide clear audio playback and voice calls with up to 3.5 hours of play time. The pocketable charging case holds three charges, giving you a total of up to 16 hours of quality audio entertainment including the charging case power.
