Especially if you’re running low on data…

Facebook are trying to make it even easier for you to surf social media by helping you find Wi-Fi hotspots through their mobile app.

The social media site launched a feature called Find Wi-Fi in a handful of countries last year, which proved to be successful, and it’s going to be launched globally. Although, it may not be immediately available in your location, it should be in the coming days and weeks.

The feature lists hotspots for connecting to the internet on its app around the world, and is particularly useful for travellers and people using their phones in areas with poor coverage.

If you’re running low on data or your reception is relatively slow, you can load up the app and it will show the places near you that have access to the internet in places like cafes and pubs etc.

The feature will be available on both iOS and Android but it could take a little while to kick off, as businesses will have to manually add their Wi-FI to the app, similarly to how you add a contact to your phone.

The below video outlines how the app will work…

Facebook have also been in the headlines over the past number of days as they refused to cave in to demands by Christian evangelicals to create a cross “reaction” emoji.

The plea came in response to Facebook’s addition of a pride flag reaction to their site last month.

Facebook introduced the rainbow-coloured reaction emoji to mark LGBT Pride month and to celebrate “love and diversity.”
