Here’s how to get an Irish flag filter for your Facebook profile picture to mark the 1916 centenary

For the weekend that’s in it.

Ireland marked the centenary of the Easter Rising in style on Easter weekend a number of weeks’ back and more significant dates in the commemorations will follow in the coming days.

Easter arrived early in the calendar year this year, but in 1916, Easter Monday, the date the rising began, didn’t fall until April 24.

In effect, this Sunday marks the official 100th anniversary of the beginning of the Easter Rising and Facebook users can commemorate that date with an Irish flag filter on their profile photo.

The filter is being provided by Sundance TV, which will be showing the RTE series about the 1916 Rising, Rebellion, this weekend.

All you have to do to get the filter is to follow the instructions provided in this link, which offers a choice of three filters (see below).

We’ve a feeling you might be seeing quite a bit of it on your Facebook feed for the weekend that’s in it.
