Ah fwend, Facebook fwend.

When it comes to the amount of friends that you have on Facebook, I always think that there are various different schools of thought about what constitutes the appropriate amount and what role these ‘online amigos’ actually have in your day-to-day life.

Personally speaking, I would hate to have 1,000 online mates, can you imagine talking to every single one of them? Your head would be wrecked!

Also, how many of these Facebook friends would lend you €5,000 when you really needed it? See, Facebook popularity isn’t that important.

We all have random people that we don’t know appearing on our timeline but a recent survey of consumer habits among young Irish people has found that the average number of Facebook friends for 16- to 35-year-olds is 360.

Right now, I imagine that you’re thinking about checking the amount of Facebook friends that you currently have, but hang on for a bit.

The survey from Thinkhouse also revealed that 16- to 18-year-olds have a higher figure of 490, they must be tech-addicts, but this numbers drops off to 205 for people in the 30- to 35-year-old age bracket.

Here’s the facts and figures for the survey, where do you fit in?
