A positive move from the popular app.

Instagram has just launched a donation feature with users now able to add a donation sticker to stories they create with the app.

The donation sticker on Instagram Stories is available to both charities and their supporters to create a 24-hour fundraising campaign on Instagram.

This is in keeping with the fact that Instagram Stories themselves are only made available for a 24-hour period.

In a statement issued on Monday, Instagram stated that “100% of the money raised goes to the nonprofits supported”.

“We can’t wait to see the creative ways that people use Instagram to support the causes they care about.”

A number of Irish charities have welcomed the news, including Mental Health Ireland, who shared an example of how it will work on their Instagram story:

This isn’t the first positive change that Instagram have attempted to make lately either.

In the past month, they have trialed hiding the number of likes on photos and videos for view on a number of devices, following reports that Instagram is the most damaging social media in terms of mental health.
