Including what could be a large price increase.

We’re likely less than two months away from the launch of the iPhone 15 and its Pro and Pro Max alternatives, pretty much a year to the day since the launch of the iPhone 14 range.

While the exact launch date has yet to be confirmed, Forbes report that September is the aimed release date, despite some apparent difficulty in producing the screens specifically for the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

In a similar report by Bloomberg (via IGN), the Pro and Pro Max versions of the iPhone 15 will feature “titanium frames, making it lighter and more durable. The 15 Pro’s screens will also reportedly include thinner bezels, thanks to new screen technology that […] was first used on the Apple Watch Series 7 to make the wearable’s bezels thinner.”

First iPhone 15 details reportedly revealed.

It is these new screens, surrounded by those thinner bezels, that are causing the reported production issues which, according to Forbes, “are expected to see availability of the model severely restricted at launch.”

It has been known for a while now that the iPhone 15 range will be the first to drop Apple’s usual Lightning charging method, in favour of USB-C charging, in response to a new European Union law which mandates all smartphones, tablets, and cameras with a physical charger to use USB-C by 2024.

And then, finally, we have the rumoured pricing. According to MacRumours, the US prices will be as follows:

  • iPhone 15: starting from $799
  • iPhone 15 Plus: starting from $899
  • iPhone 15 Pro: starting from $1,099
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max: starting from $1,299

That is a $100 increase on the Pro and a $200 increase on the Pro Max compared to the launch prices for the iPhone 14 range. The iPhone 14 Pro sold for €1,339 and the iPhone Pro Max sold for €1,489, so the comparative price increases for their launch here may be higher still.
