They've become something of a collector's item

Unused classic iPod's with music storage of 160gb are fetching up to €1,000 on eBay, according to Newstalk. Apple recently announced that they were no longer making the MP3 player, with more than 3,000 sold since on the popular auction and shopping site. The iPod classic was discontinued as Apple claimed they could no longer source the materials needed to produce them, and a redesign would not have made financial sense. With far more music storage than a smartphone, these products have now seen a spike in interest and become much sought after collector's items. The Guardian also report that mobile phones that pre-date the smartphone are also being searched for online. A working Nokia 3310 could net you €34.99, while a Nokia 6300 is on the market for €129.99.
