With a huge amount of titles coming out this year that we’re eager to get our grubby mitts on, Crysis 3 has come calling first, and it looks to be a belter.

Like Crysis 2, this title is back inside the nanodome in New York, this time set in 2043 where you take on the character of Prophet, and we got to play a preview of the swampland demo levels set in Chinatown.

The first two games have been widely praised for pushing the boundaries in terms of graphics and visually, this game is pretty fantastic; the environments we had a look at were seriously impressive.

Crytek have always looked to push the limits on their titles, and it was no surprise to hear them talking about needing the next generation of consoles to make more significant leaps after their work on Crysis 3. If you’re a PC gamer, then you can expect your machine to be pushed to its limits.

In terms of gameplay, the bow and arrow continues to be great fun as a weapon and is certainly more subtle than firing off a few rounds with any of the guns in the armoury. While at the event, JOE even got some training on the bow and arrow ourselves, so we’re ready to rumble if necessary.

While the nanosuit is a good idea for camouflage, you can’t just use it all the time as the energy runs out pretty quickly, so it’s a pretty key part of the game to pick your battles with it.

The first person shooter genre is getting very competitive, but with the extra few touches that the Crysis series has, you can expect a different experience to the other games around at the minute, like its storyline.

Although we only got a snippet, the story certainly seems to have depth and piques our interest for more later on in the game. The corrupt C.E.L.L. corporation are back, and there’s a few aliens that need taking down to boot.

We didn’t get a chance to play the multi-player mode though, which will be the determining factor in the lifespan of this game. If it’s half as enjoyable as the single-player, it should guarantee the game doesn’t sit on your shelf gathering dust.

They’ve also put together a great trailer to get you in the mood for the release later this month, with a little nod to How I Met Your Mother thrown in. Suit up! This is going to be legen…wait for it…dary.
