What do you think?

The way social media apps keep adding new features that are similar to what exists elsewhere, pretty soon they’ll end up almost exactly the same as one another.

After WhatsApp followed the lead of Instagram and launched a feature more associated with something you’d see on Snapchat, Instagram themselves have rolled out a feature that makes it a little more like Facebook.

From today on, you can share multiple photos and videos in one post on Instagram, with users now having the ability to combine up to 10 photos and videos in one post and to swipe through to see them all.

Posting multiple photos at once is something that will be familiar to users of Facebook (which acquired Instagram back in 2012), but it will now mean that Instagram users won’t have to be as selective when choosing images they want to share with their followers.

So how does one do it?

Here are the instructions issued by Instagram themselves.

“When uploading to your feed, you’ll see a new icon to select multiple photos and videos. It’s easy to control exactly how your post will look. You can tap and hold to change the order, apply a filter to everything at once or edit one by one.

“These posts have a single caption and are square-only for now. On your profile grid, you’ll notice the first photo or video of your post has a little icon, which means there’s more to see.”

No doubt, like some of Instagram’s recent updates, it will divide opinion, but you’ll only know by trying it out for yourself.

The update is available as part of Instagram version 10.9 for iOS in the Apple App Store and for Android on Google Play.
