Nine years old today. Isn’t it growing up fierce fast?

Truth be told, YouTube is such a part of everyone’s lives nowadays that it feels as if it’s been around a lot longer than nine years and while we’ve laughed heartily at everything from news bloopers to screaming goats from further afield, it is the clips from around these parts that have most struck a chord.

We’ve racked our brains in an effort to come up with as extensive a list as possible of the Irish videos that have tickled our funny bones the most over the best part of the last decade, but if you feel there are any major omissions then don’t hesitate to add your own suggestions in the comment box below.

Before then, however, take a few minutes to have a look back at the clips that did make the list and celebrate YouTube’s birthday by enjoying some of the finest Irish-related material ever to grace the Internet.

Effin’ Eddie’s commentary on the Tipperary County Final

‘He got a boot!’

Garda prank phone call

‘A meteorite must have hit the line.’

The man who slipped on the ice

The original was great but the remake, featuring a fictional account of the victim’s struggles since his infamous fall and starring Kevin McGahern of Republic of Telly fame, was even better.

Aengus Mac Grianna’s make-up blooper

When you’re featured on Jimmy Kimmel, you know you’ve made it.

Johnny Maher goes on the rampage in the 2012 Galway County Hurling Final

Amazingly, despite taking down half of the St. Joseph’s team – a St. Joseph’s team that went onto win an All-Ireland hurling club title that season – Maher still wasn’t sent off.

Young Irish lad pretends to his father that he failed his driving test

‘Jaysus Chrisht.’

Irish Dad not at all impressed with his son taking on the cinnamon challenge

‘You’re a fu**in’ moron Mike.’

The 1994 Castletown Donkey Derby

Along with Effin’ Eddie above, this is arguably the greatest commentary on any Irish sporting event in history…

Hilarious in-car rally commentary

…although this also comes pretty close.
