Snapchat’s popularity amongst Irish people is growing at a serious rate

All the kids are using it these days

It’s very much a young person’s game.

If you’re over 35 and think that you’re not down with the kids because you don’t have a Snapchat account, don’t worry, you’re not the only one.

In fact, you’re amongst plenty of friends as 92% of over 35-year olds in Ireland don’t even have a Snapchat account.

If, on the other hand, you’re aged between 15 and 18 and don’t have a Snapchat account, then you’re very much in the minority as 84% of Irish people in that age bracket have a Snapchat account and 85% of those people use it on a daily basis.

Those figures are amongst a number of interesting revelations regarding Irish people’s use of Snapchat from an Ipsos MRBI study.

The figures show that Snapchat is an extremely popular social media tool amongst teenagers in particular and that it is more popular than the likes of Instagram, Twitter and WhatsApp amongst Irish people in the 15-18 age bracket.

Irish people aged 25 and older are clearly not as active on Snapchat as teenagers but if Snapchat’s popularity continues to grow at this rate, it’ll be very interesting to see what Snapchat’s ‘story’ is in a few years’ time.
