There’s now a 219-inch TV called ‘The Wall’ and it’s an absolute monster

For anyone looking for a new TV.

While we’ve absolutely no idea what every single conversation is like between couples in Ireland, we’re confident in stating an opinion when it comes to the topic of buying a new TV.

Phrases like ‘Sure, we only got a new TV a few years ago,’ ‘the size of it! It’s too big for the room,’ and ‘I wish you told me this before I got the new sofa’ have all been mentioned.

Granted, they’re all valid points but neither of them comprehend the sheer awesomeness of watching sport, films, TV shows on 219-inches of glory.

At the recent CES technology show in Las Vegas, Samsung unveiled their massive 219-inch TV that they’ve dubbed ‘The Wall’ and it’s a monster.

The South Korean company already has 146-inch version of The Wall, but this is a significantly larger version that uses a form of technology that they call micro LED – which creates a brighter image using less energy than current televisions.

While tech details have been scarce, Anandtech have reported that the resolution “is higher than 4K as well as 2,000 nits brightness” and that the TV “runs an unknown Samsung processor (presumably a version of the company’s Quantum Processor 8K that powers QLED-based Q900-series 8K UHDTVs) that supports the manufacturer’s AI upscaling tech along with other premium capabilities.”

“The Wall 2019 takes personalisation to the next level, with modular panels that consumers can position in any size or shape to meet their needs. These next-generation modular Micro LED displays harness self-emitting technology to create elegant, efficient and powerful screens that are liberated from the limitations of existing technologies,” the company said in a statement.

The TV can be controlled using a special tablet.

If 219-inches is a bit too big for your front room, there’s a smaller version available too and that comes in at 75-inches.

The smaller unit is known as ‘The Window’ and it features 4K resolution as well as a peak brightness of 1,000 nits.
