For many people, Tinder was the best thing to happen to the Irish dating scene. It has helped many people to set up dates and even find love.
But while people as young as 13 are using the app, it is important to consider the potential dangers they face by talking to strangers, which is why they are making a big change.
The app which first allowed people between the ages of 13 and 17 to join the app, will now restrict the usage so that only people over the age of 18 can use it.
According to TechCrunch, Tinder's VP of Communications Rosette Pambakian released a statement saying,
"On a platform that has facilitated over 11 billion connections, we have the responsibility of constantly assessing our different user experiences.
"Consistent with this responsibility, we have decided to discontinue service for under 18 users. We believe this is the best policy moving forward."
The majority of users are over 18 according to the statement, which said that it would affect less than 3 percent of the global user base.
