He’s always preferred Twitter anyway.

The US government could consider banning TikTok and other Chinese mobile phone apps, according to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

In a recent interview with Fox News, Pompeo said that the Trump administration is looking at banning Chinese apps, with TikTok getting a special mention.

Pompeo said that anyone who uses TikTok will have their “private information in the hands of the Chinese Communist Party”, and that he didn’t want to put words in Donald Trump’s mouth, but that it was something that is being looked at.

“With respect to Chinese apps on people’s cell phones, I can assure you the United States will get this one right too.”

A statement released by TikTok in response to this interview said that the app has never provided data to the Chinese government, saying: “TikTok is led by an American CEO, with hundreds of employees and key leaders across safety, security, product and public policy here in the U.S.

“We have no higher priority than promoting a safe and secure app experience for our users.”

In recent months, TikTok has seen a massive rise in popularity, with hundreds of millions of people using the app every month.
