Making the cover of FIFA, the biggest football video game in the world, is a pretty big deal for footballers.
This year, ahead of the release of FIFA 16, EA SPORTS have decided to mix with the formula a little.
Lionel Messi will deservedly grace the cover but rather than choosing another big name themselves, they’ve decided to let the fans decide by giving them a range of options and putting it to a vote.
In the UK and Ireland, fans can decide whether to put Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson, Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane or Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois on the cover, with fans having until July 5 to vote.
One of the contenders for the cover, Jordan Henderson, took time out to make a special appeal to readers of this fine website to put him on the cover, which you can hear above.
Unfortunately, he didn’t get around to our request to say ‘An bhfuil cead agam dul go dtí an leithreas?’ which, we’re sure you’ll agree, would have sounded quite special in Jordan’s Geordie brogue.
All you need to do to vote for Jordan is to follow the instructions here, fans can vote once daily until the deadline on July 5.
Sharing your vote on Twitter (#VoteHenderson), Facebook or Google+ earns an additional 10 votes and fans who share their vote will also be entered into a prize draw to win a signed copy of FIFA 16.
