Video: Mark Zuckerburg uses Gaelic Football to highlight advances in Facebook video technology

GAA people in Ireland love nothing more than our games being exposed to a global audience. Now, one of the most influential people in the world has exposed one our native games to one of the biggest audiences of all. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg last night posted a video to his page explaining how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help Facebook tailor content that will appeal to the individual Facebook user, using clips from a series of sports to prove his point. The game being played five seconds in looks familiar. In fact, if we’re not mistaken, it’s the 2012 All-Ireland semi-final between Cork and Donegal at Croke Park. Mark has just the 31.65 million followers on his Facebook page so the video would have been seen by quite a large audience, many of whom will no doubt quibble with his inclusion of Gaelic Football in the category of “some really obscure and unexpected sports”.
