This is as close to the action as we’ll ever get…

The reaction to the story we posted earlier about the guy who wore a GoPro on his helmet during hurling training was amazing, people loved it and we can understand why because it’s pretty spectacular. You can have a gander at the video by clicking here.

However, our research (searching “GoPro” and “Hurling” on YouTube) has seen us stumble upon a video where a guy wore a GoPro on his helmet for an entire hurling match.

The game in question was a challenge between Clare club Sixmilebridge and a visiting hurling team from Indianapolis GAA and St. Louis GAA clubs in the States and it took place in the summer of 2013.

The guy with the camera on his helmet is a midfielder so you get a good view of the game. There’s pulling, chopping, points, roaring and all the lovely ingredients you need for a good match.

Incidentally, Sixmilebridge won on a scoreline of 6-14 to 2-05.
