If you have ever been to an IMAX cinema, you know that the sound systems used in those theatres are loud enough to rattle the filling in your teeth. If that’s your thing then rejoice, because the company behind that sound is now invading your living room with a set of miniscule speakers that can literally blow the bloody doors off.
Developed by the audiophile sound engineers at Audyssey, the Lower East Side Speakers weigh just three kilograms each and are only nine inches high. Yet thanks to some clever features like its passive bass radiator and some proprietary digital processing, these diminutive speakers can output huge bass without the distortion that is typical of this kind of speaker.
Performance aside, they sure wont be winning any awards for their aesthetics, with a rather workmanlike design that doesn’t exactly indicate how much you have actually paid for them, which is around €200 in case you were wondering.
On the plus side again, they also have an optical input which allows them to be connected directly to Blu-Ray players, the PS3, Apple TV and some televisions, if they have the requires port.
